"Life's most persistent and urgent question is, what are you doing for others?" -MLK. We recently started the ART.Life.Style Program to help our kids think more creatively and outside of the box. Our goal with the Richmond Juvenile Detention Center was to infuse art and life experiences to help expose these kids to more avenues of self expression and also encourage them to follow their passion. With this program my hopes were to spark something that created a positive change in their attitude, drive them to achieve inner greatness and to become respective leaders when released back in their community. This 12 week program featured several sessions of mural painting, art workshops and engaging dialogue with the kids. We're a firm believers that we must show our kids another option before we can complain about the path they choose.
