Fly High | Inspiring the Next Generation

Fly High | Inspiring the Next Generation

The Teen & Community Center’s exterior now carries a bold message of aspiration through Jason Ford’s Fly High mural. Covering 1,600 square feet, the artwork shows youth soaring through clouds alongside the words “Fly High,” transforming the building into a landmark of hope and possibility.

J Ford, a former Boys & Girls Club member, created the piece as both a personal tribute and a source of inspiration for today’s youth. Influenced by the book The People Could Fly and Kendrick Lamar’s “Black Boy Fly,” he wanted the mural to symbolize limitless potential and the courage to rise above obstacles. The cloud-filled backdrop and figures in motion represent freedom and forward movement, while their varied poses and expressions highlight individuality, resilience, and joy.

Painted in exterior latex and aerosol spray paint, the mural brings gallery-quality storytelling to a public space. For Ford, it is a way to give back to the community that helped shape him, offering young people a visual reminder that their dreams are worth chasing and that they already have the wings to fly.
