When Nosaj Authentics was approached about partnering with Bon Secours to adopt two restrooms for the RPSShines Project, the answer was an immediate yes. After a great meeting with the Bon Secours leads and Armstrong High School’s administrative team, the goal became clear; beautify a high-traffic area while creating a meaningful team-building experience for corporate volunteers.
The design honored Armstrong’s legacy by featuring two of its most notable alumni, Maggie L. Walker and Douglas Wilder, alongside inspiring quotes from recognizable greats such as Michelle Obama, Barack Obama, Jay-Z, Michael Jordan, and Oprah Winfrey. Each element was chosen to reflect perseverance, leadership and excellence, giving students daily reminders of the heights they can reach.
This project not only transformed physical spaces but also fostered connection and pride among everyone involved. It stands as an example of how creative partnerships can build stronger communities, one wall at a time.
